This research investigates the use of BIM technology in teaching and practice of architectural design, struc- tures and facilities in the construction of buildings. From researches that point critics to the linear process of building design and compatibility of information, and from data found that indicate conceptual adequacy and inadequacy of the use of BIM in the steps of building design, the goal is to map research groups, teachers and universities tha perform research and apply this technology, in order to know the state of the art in the field of professional practice and academic on the national scene.
